Fact: My mother has a first cousin who is also her half-sister. This happened when my grandfather impregnated a woman who then married his brother.
Another Fact: My grandparents' explanation for why this information came to light was that they felt their eldest son and his secret half-sister might end up dating if they thought they were only cousins.
